The Man Comes Around
The Mets beat the Braves convincingly on Friday night and for once got some good news out of their bullpen. No, it wasn't the two scoreless innings pitched by Aaron Heilman and Scott Schoeneweis, though those were nice, too. The big story on Friday was a bullpen session in which Pedro Martinez threw 68 pitches and impressive enough to earn the starting nod for Monday afternoon's game against the Reds. It's not all good news today as it was also announced that Orlando Hernandez will miss at least one start due to a sprained metatarsal ligament in his right foot. Even so, I can't help but be excited about the team's prospects for September with Pedro back. I think September is going to be a lot more fun than August was.
